MANTEO — The license plate agency in Manteo—the only such agency in Dare County—will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, as the current operator’s contract is ending.

The timeframe for reopening under a new contractor is unknown, but there will be at least several weeks at the start of the year during which any Dare County residents in need of in-person license plate-related services will need to travel outside of the county.
