Missing KDH teen found safe in Missouri two days after leaving home

KILL DEVIL HILLS — Nearly 48 hours after leaving his Kill Devil Hills residence in his truck with his dog, the 16-year-old whom the Kill Devil Hills Police Department listed as a “missing/runaway juvenile” was found unharmed in Missouri.
“On Monday, March 17, 2025, around 12:30 p.m., Christian Jenkins was located safe in Missouri with his dog and truck,” a Kill Devil Hills Police Department press release issued around 2 p.m. on Monday said.
Jenkins left his Kill Devil Hills residence with his dog on Saturday, March 15, at 3:11 p.m., according to the initial police press release issued Sunday, which asked for the public’s help locating the teen.
The police department in its Monday press release thanked “the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D Troopers and Communications for their assistance.”
Troop D is in Springfield, Missouri, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol website.
The Kill Devil Hills Police Department in its Monday release said that it would not share further details about the incident.
“The Department appreciates the media’s and public’s understanding about the sensitive nature of this investigation and no further details about the incident will be released,” the press release said.
