KILL DEVIL HILLS — Civil Rights icon Ruby Bridges through her foundation is creating Camp Bridges, a new weeklong summer camp in Columbia for children ages 8-12; and a Friday night fundraiser in Kill Devil Hills called “An Evening with Ruby Bridges” will celebrate the camp’s launch.

“Camp Bridges will create a space for young people to grow as individuals while forging bonds that span communities and cultures,” Bridges said in a press release about the fundraising event benefitting the camp. “This work is deeply personal to me, and I’m honored to share this vision with all of you.”
