Wright Brothers National Memorial releases names from Saturday’s fatal Kill Devil Hills plane crash

KILL DEVIL HILLS — The Wright Brothers National Memorial in a Tuesday afternoon release identified four of the five people who died when a Cirrus SR22 crashed into a wooded area by the First Flight Airport runway in Kill Devil Hills.

 

The adults aboard the plane were Shashwat Ajit Adhikari, 31, of Silver Spring, Maryland; Jason Ray Campbell, 43, of Southern Pines, North Carolina; Kate McAllister Neely, 39, of Southern Pines, North Carolina; and Matthew Arthur Fassnacht, 44, of Marietta, Georgia.

 

A 6-year-old child also died in the crash but was not named in the release. There were no survivors.

 

“National Park Service employees at Wright Brothers National Memorial, Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site (Outer Banks Group) extend their deepest condolences to the families, friends and loved ones affected by this tragedy,” David Hallac, Outer Banks Group superintendent, said in the release.

 

The relationships of those aboard the plane were not stated in the release, nor whose child it was. The release also did not state who the plane’s pilot was or if anyone aboard owned the plane.
